Who Is Jesus To You?

Who is Jesus to you? To some, Jesus is only a myth, or a mystical mantra to give them peace, or a magic wand to satisfy their wants. To some, Jesus was a good teacher or a prophet. Some refer to Him as “The Man Upstairs.” Sadly, to many, he is only a curse word. But who is Jesus to you?

The essence of Christianity is summed up in one mind-boggling sentence: Jesus Christ is God. (John 10:30) C.S. Lewis put it bluntly: “For Christ to have talked as He talked, lived as He lived, died as He died, He was either God or a raving lunatic.”

If Christ was only an inspired prophet or teacher, then Christianity is like taking a sugarcoated placebo once a week on Sunday morning. But Christ’s life changed twelve men who “turned the world upside down” (or rather right side up!) and transformed multiplied millions of people throughout history. Even atheists agree that Christ’s coming changed the course of history. Millions have followed His promises and words. Could this be a result of a mere man’s work? No! Christ is who He claimed to be – the Son of God, Deity. His resurrection proved that.

“In who we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature: For by him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.” (Colossians 1:14-18, KJV)

Who is Jesus to you? To me, He’s my Savior, my Redeemer, my Lord, the Miracle Worker, and the Healer of my body. He’s Jehovah-Jireh, my Provider. He’s the Shepherd of my soul. He’s the incomparable Christ, invincible, unchangeable, unequaled, omnipotent, omnipresent, all-knowing, full of love, truth, and mercy. He’s the Comforter to help me during times of trouble. He’s the Light, so I don’t have to walk in darkness. He’s the Friend that sticks closer than a brother.

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name.” (Philippians 2:9)

Who is Jesus to YOU? Someone shared this biblical definition:

“To the architect…He is the Chief cornerstone. To the banker…He is the Hidden Treasure. To the baker…He is the Living Bread. To the builder…He is the Sure Foundation. To the Carpenter…He is the Door. To the astronomer…He is the Bright and Morning Star. To the geologist…He is the Rock of Ages. To the thirsty…He is the Fountain that never runs dry. To the doctor…He is the Great Physician. To the educator…He is the Great Teacher. To the florist…He is the Lily of the Valley. To the jeweler…He is the Pearl of Great Price. To the sinner…He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.”
Who is Jesus to you? He wants to be everything to you.

Jesus once asked His disciples, “Who do men say that I am?” Peter replied, “Thou art Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus answered, “…Blessed art thou, Simon…for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father, which is in heaven.” (Matthew 16:16-17, KJV)

Friend, who is Jesus to you? Is He your Savior and Lord? Is He everything to you?

“That if you confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
You can know him personally and intimately.

A. Admit you have sinned. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

B. Believe in Jesus. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

C.Confess and leave your sin. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
