Spiritual Renewal and Revival
Spiritual Renewal and Revival
Spiritual Renewal: a renovation, an enlivening; a rebirth, a stirring up, a waking up, rejuvenation, a revival. Revival means “to bring life,” from the Latin root, “re” which means again and “vivere” which means life. Continue to focus on renewal for your own spiritual life. Join a Bible class, be prepared to have your heart impacted by a sermon, stay in God’s word, and prayerfully consider changes that need to be made in your life. I believe every one of us has times in our lives when we need true deep spiritual renewal.
- It’s not that we’ve forgotten God, we just don’t fervently serve God.
- It’s not that we don’t on occasion share our faith with the lost, we’ve forgotten the tragedy that people are lost.
- It’s not that we don’t (by and large) come to worship, Bible class, Life Groups; it’s that we’ve forgotten the reason why we come to worship, Bible class, and Life Groups.
- It’s not that we don’t worship God, it’s that we no longer passionately worship God.
- It’s not that we don’t know right from wrong—we just choose not to think about right and wrong.
- It’s not that we don’t want to please God; we would just rather please ourselves first.
- It’s not that we’ve forgotten that God is Master over time and that the things of this life are fleeting—it’s just that we are too much in love with the world.
- It’s not just that we forgotten God’s promise of heaven, we just don’t desire the promise of heaven as we should.
If we are not renewed from time to time, we end up in a place spiritually where we find no growth, no challenge, no excitement, no desiring something deeper in our relationship with God. Don’t allow yourself to become lackadaisical in your spiritual walk. Join in, focus on, be a part of spreading the word, You will be glad you did, and your spiritual walk will be refreshed.
