Relax, It's Done

God speaks to us in many different ways. If we would only listen, we would hear his voice. Of course a word from the Lord is always in agreement with the Word of God – the Bible. God gave me a word a few days ago through the Merry Maids. I had been praying concerning a certain situation. One evening I was driving down the highway, praying as I went toward home. I saw an interesting billboard. It was an advertisement from a house-cleaning service – The Merry Maids. In large simple letters the sign read – “RELAX – IT’S DONE!” I imagine the company was telling us that if you hired The Merry Maids to do your house cleaning you could go home and “relax – it’s done!”

God spoke something else to me through that message. The thing that I had been praying so long for was answered so I should, in faith, just relax – it’s done. Have you been praying or struggling over a certain situation? In faith, relax – it’s done. If you have prayed in faith, consider it done. Give God thanksgiving whether you immediately see the physical answer or not. Abraham believed God and considered it so. (Hebrews 11) “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (I Thessalonians 5:17-18).

When Jesus gave himself up to be crucified on the cross as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world, he cried out something very powerful, “When Jesus had received the sour wine he said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing his head, he gave up His spirit” (John 19:30).

This was not a cry of termination, as if to say, “I am finished.” No! It was a shout of victory, declaring the work of the cross accomplished and completed. Jesus’ earthly mission and purpose was done. He finished the work of redemption. He was the spotless Passover lamb. (Isaiah 53; I Corinthians 5:7) Satan and his demonic horde were “done in”. (Colossians 2:15) A proof of the way salvation was now open for all through the blood of Christ happened when Jesus died. The veil in the temple was “rent in the midst” – it was torn from top to bottom. (Luke 23:45) This signified that the finished work of Christ gave all who will believe and receive his sacrifice on the cross, free access into the very throne room of God.

Do you struggle with sins power, guilt, bondage, or fear? Relax – it’s done! It was finished when Jesus died and arose again on the third day victorious over death, hell, and the grave. But we must come to the place of “the rest of faith”. Have you prayed in faith for what seems a long time for a desperate need? Relax – it’s done! Trust God. Give Him thanks.

The writer of the book of Hebrews tells us that there is a place of rest. This place is entered only through faith. “For we which have believed do enter into rest as he said, ‘As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world’” (Hebrews 4:3). What an awesome scripture! God’s works were finished even before He created the earth. It is finished! How do we enter the place of rest?

One – RELAX it’s done! Rest in Christ (Hebrews 4:1-6, 10).

Second – RID yourself of doubt and unbelief. (Hebrews 4:6).

Third – RENEW your mind, soul, spirit, and body by receiving the Word of God into your inner-being. (Hebrews 4:12-13).

Fourth – REFOCUS on the living victorious Christ. (Hebrews 4:14-16).

RELAX – IT’S DONE!
