Proclaim Freedom
|
As we celebrate another 4th of July we need to pray and proclaim freedom to the captives, as never before. Satan is working overtime to try and take away our freedom on all fronts. That, of course, is his nature. Jesus described the enemy’s character and purpose, ‘The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10 NLT). When General George Washington led his beleaguered troops into battle at Valley Forge, they were an army that had suffered hunger and exposure to the harsh elements of winter. Historians tell us that their march could be traced by the bloody foot prints in the snow. Many of them had no shoes. |
But they were willing to endure the hardships of war to secure vital victory and freedom for their country. Are we willing to pay the cost to proclaim freedom to multitudes of captives?
Isaiah prophesied, by the Holy Spirit, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns! . . . Get out! Get out leave your captivity” (Isaiah 52:6-11 NLT).
I dare say that there are more prisoners incarcerated in America than any other country. Even more are not behind bars but are held captive by sin, fear, bondage, hopelessness, and life controlling habits. We have the Good News! God hears the groaning of the prisoner! (Psalm 102:20 NLT)
“I will say to the prisoners, ‘Come out in freedom,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Come into the light’” (Isaiah 49:9 NLT). Isaiah prophesied of the coming Messiah, “You will free the captives from prison, releasing those who sit in dark dungeons” (Isaiah 42:7 NLT).
Jesus paid the price for our freedom. Are you willing to suffer for His sake and Proclaim Freedom to the prisoners? Time is running out.
