Bringing Heaven Joy
| Multitudes of Americans ushered in the New Year with celebrations of joy. Times Square in New York City has become known for its grand party on New Year’s Eve. We welcomed in the New Year 2008 with joy and anticipation. Eight is the number of new beginnings. God delights in new beginnings. He is the God of new beginnings. The Father is passionate about new beginnings. All earthly parties pale in comparison to the celebration of joy in heaven when one sinner repents and returns to the Father. |
Jesus taught us how to bring heaven joy. The Lord was criticized and censured for associating with hated tax collectors and notorious sinners. Have you noticed that it’s usually joyless religious people who complain and criticize the most? Do you want to bring heaven joy and overflow with the joy of the Lord? Jesus the master storyteller gave us three powerful parables in Luke 15 to reveal the Father’s heart and teach us what brings heaven joy. Read, meditate on, and implement these three parables in your life this New Year and not only will you bring heaven joy but your own heart will overflow with God’s joy.
In Luke 15 Jesus paints a picture of one lost sheep, one lost coin, and one lost son. We must have heaven’s perspective on the tragedy of LOSTNESS, the urgency of LOOKING until they are found, and heaven’s joy in LOCATING that which is lost. God is in the people business. Jesus came to seek and to save that which is lost. (Luke 19:10)
Jesus gives us this breathtaking revelation of God’s heart. “In the same way, there is joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over 99 others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away” (Luke 15:7 NLT). “In the same way there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents” (Luke 15:10 NLT). “’We must celebrate with a feast for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost but is now found.’ So the party began” (Luke 15:24).
Let us bring heaven joy. This year of new beginnings, let’s win the lost at any cost.
